My name's Callum, and I'm a Marie Skłodowska-Curie POLONEZ BIS Fellow at Jagiellonian University's Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics. (For those unfamiliar with the name, that's 'Cal' as in 'California' and 'lum' as in 'lumber'.) My main areas of specialisation are social and political philosophy and Marx and Marxism. I’m particularly interested in normative political philosophy and my research focuses on various issues related to the nature of equality, freedom, and justice (especially as these things figure in our thinking about the design of economic institutions). My current research project is titled Equality, Freedom, and Domination—you can learn more about it here.
I also have a side interest in metaphysics, the philosophy of mind, and meta-ethics—across which I’m interested in questions regarding the limits of naturalism. I like to teach various different kinds of philosophy and I’m interested in pedagogical theory, particularly as it applies to education in philosophy. (See my teaching page for more information about my experience and approach to teaching.)
